Infant Program coming to Bergamo’s Pocket Campus!

It is with great excitement that we announce the opening of a new Infant classroom at Bergamo Montessori School on Pocket Road in September!

Designed for children from 3 months to 18 months of age, AMI Montessori Infant programs are unique in several ways:

The Environment: Our classrooms are designed entirely around the needs of infants. A low rail anchored to the wall provides support to help children pull themselves up from the floor. A soft mat cushions falls. Custom floor beds allow children to choose to sleep when tired. Infant size shelves display beautiful materials designed to stimulate senses. Teachers speak in gentle tones, and the decor is understated and homelike. Children feel right at home in an environment created just for them.

The Teacher: Our school is the only program in the region to offer Infant classrooms led by teachers with the prestigious AMI Montessori certification. This two-year training program is a thorough education in child development from birth to age three and prepares the teacher to create an optimal program for infants. More than just a job – our Montessori teachers have a career of choice because of their love for infants, their interest in Montessori education, and their unwavering commitment to do what is best for children.

The Program: Infants are sensitive to change and routine, and we make every effort to ensure consistency to help children feel safe and comfortable. Our program is offered on a five-day schedule only, so the same children and adults are together every day. Sleep and eating schedules are based on a child’s individual needs, which are carefully observed and documented for communication with parents.

The new classroom will be located in the open “family room” on the first floor of our main building. In addition to other campus improvements this summer, we will complete modifications to this room and outside areas to welcome our youngest students to the community.

Because of the small class size and heightened demand for this program, we are offering priority enrollment to families already in our school through the end of April. On May 1, we will open enrollment to families outside of our community. If you are interested in learning more about this new classroom, please contact our Director of Admissions, Sylvia Flood, at
