Our class has been singing the country songs for each continent for a while. One child, working on the map, was singing and replacing the map puzzle pieces and paused and said, “Netherlands. I have an uncle in the Netherlands.” After we finished singing, I asked what can you tell me about him. “Awe, nothing I want to work on Africa now”. I love the children making connections!
Our February poems are being said and repeated. A couple children are copying them for penmanship work. If you would like to learn along with them they are : Valentine’s Day and Little Kitten.
Valentine’s Day
Author: unkown
If I could be a postman
For just one single time,
I’d choose to carry Valentines
So lovely and so fine.
I would not mind the heavy load,
Or mind my tired feet
If I could scatter happiness
All up and down the street
Little Kitten
Author: Richard MacWilliam
Little Kitten rolling around,
Chasing a piece of string,
Fluid in its beauty,
Amazed at everything.
