Dear Sierra-Nevada Families:
We are one week away from our holiday break and, boy! We’ve got a lot to do until then!
Potluck Pajama Party
Since our Thanksgiving Feast was cancelled, I thought it would be great to have a potluck lunch next Friday at noon, followed by our already scheduled PJ/board game party in the afternoon. The plan will be for the children to wear pajamas to school next Friday (the 21st). We will have our usual morning work period and then we will set up for a Potluck lunch at noon. Please feel free to wear your own pajamas, if you’d like! The new SignUpGenius can be found here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080f4aa9ac2fa2fe3-pajama
The Heifer Project
The children are very excited to raise money for the Heifer project this year. They are planning a bake sale to be held in the Family Room during the Upper Elementary Scholastic Book sale next week. They will bake each morning in the classroom and sell their fresh baked products in the afternoon. The Heifer Project is an organization that supplies small-scale farmers, especially women, with animals and skills to care for them in communities around the world. Their website can be found here: www.heifer.org. If you are interested in volunteering to help the children next week, please contact me. I could use one parent volunteer each day from 3:15 – 5:30 p.m. Monday – Thursday.
The Bergamo Newspaper
Watch for volume two of the newspaper, set to be published next Friday – yes, the day of the PJ Potluck! The children were thrilled to see their hard work come to life last month. I will continue to help them with this project for as long as they are interested.
Animal Care
We need volunteers to take the gecko, water frogs and tarantula over the holiday break. All three are easy to care for and do not take up much time, energy or space. I will be visiting grandchildren in Minnesota during the break (brrrr!), so really need assistance with all of the creatures in our classroom this break. Please let me know which animal you are interested in – first come, first served! (And thanks in advance for this help!!)
Book Club
It was so great to see so many families at our first Book Club of the year. I really enjoyed hearing everyone’s insightful thoughts and was happy with how comfortable everyone felt sharing. Wendy and I are looking forward to our next book and we will get that information out to you very soon!
Hope to see you all next Friday!
Patty
