New Montessori School to Open in El Dorado Hills / Folsom Area!

Our school opened in 1975 with one preschool/kindergarten classroom of 17 children in rented space at a local church. Over the past 42 years we have grown, slowly, to 3 different campuses serving children as young as 3 months through the 6th grade.

Our goal has never been to grow for the sake of growth; rather, we aim to provide the highest quality Montessori education possible for children and families in the greater Sacramento area. Currently, we are one of only 200 Montessori schools in the United States that meet the international standards of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI).

Over the last few years, we’ve had significant interest from families in the Folsom/El Dorado Hills area. We even have many from that area who choose to drive the long distance to our schools in Sacramento and Yolo County to enroll their children in an authentic Montessori program.

To that end, we are excited to announce the opening of a new campus in the master planned community of Serrano to serve families in Folsom, El Dorado Hills, and the surrounding areas!

Years of Planning Come to Fruition

Preparation for this new school started over 5 years ago. We researched the area thoroughly and decided that Serrano offered an ideal location for families throughout the region.

The new school is located in the Village Green at Serrano – next to a serene lake, walking paths, and views of the foothills. It is, indeed, a beautiful physical location for young children to learn and grow!

In addition, the brand new Silva Valley Parkway freeway interchange allows quick (2 minutes!) access to the school from the Highway 50 corridor.

A Focus on Early Childhood

Although we offer Elementary programs at our other campuses, the new school will focus on early childhood only. Over the last few years, the demand for high quality infant and toddler classrooms has increased, and the new campus reflects this trend. We will have 5 classrooms: 2 for infants (3 months to 18 months), 1 for toddlers (18 months to 3 years) and 2 for preschool/kindergarten (3-6-years).

Dedicated Staff – Amazing Montessori Training

The quality of a school really comes down to the quality and training of the adults who work with the children. We are so proud to open the program with three of our most experienced teachers:

Dayna Brennan: Dayna has worked as a Montessori Preschool/Kindergarten teacher at our school in Sacramento for the last six years. She is loved by children and parents for her infectious enthusiasm, kindness, and dedication to her classroom. She has an AMI Montessori diploma from Montessori Northwest in Portland, Oregon.

Maria Moreno: Maria has worked with toddlers at our Sacramento campus for the last 5 years – and she loves working with this age group! She has an AMI Montessori diploma to teach children from birth through 3 years from The Montessori Institute in Denver, Colorado.

Gabi Bustamante: Gabi has worked with us for 10 years at our Sacramento campus – and recently helped to create our new infant program there. She has an AMI Montessori diploma to teach children from birth through 3 years from The Montessori Institute in Denver, Colorado.

Built From the Ground Up as a Montessori School

Construction on our new school started in November, and will be finished soon. The building, classrooms, and grounds were crafted specifically to function as a Montessori school.

Our bright and sunny classrooms are designed for young children – it is an environment scaled down to their size. Low sinks, child size furniture, and beautiful wooden shelves help children to develop independence. Beautiful Montessori materials from the Netherlands adorn the classroom. Here, the child paints, cooks, waters the garden, sweeps with miniature brooms, washes dishes, and plays with materials that develop fine and gross motor coordination.

Here’s What Is Next

Demand for our programs has always been high and we expect the same at our new campus. Although we won’t open until September, we are offering preview tours of the new campus. You can see the environment for yourself and learn more about how your child will benefit from an authentic Montessori education.

We would love to meet you and your child! Please contact Sylvia Flood, our Director of Admissions, to schedule a visit.
