The Best Way to Stop a Toddler Tantrum

fm

Have you ever tried to coax a toddler to leave the park? Has your toddler ever been so wound up that it’s hard to settle them into bed? Do you find yourself exhausted at the thought of cleaning up all the toys that are strewn about the house?

The answer to your troubles is something easy and very much a universal human trait. Sing! Sing a song about how it’s time to go home. Sing a lullaby or a soothing chant. Sing the clean up song.

Engage your child with music in a positive way that will entice them to do whatever you are doing. Feel like the Pied Piper as your children follow along with whatever you would like them to do.

Avoid power struggles, tears, and frustration. Just sing a song. If you build your child’s experiences with music and singing they will eventually start singing along with you and it will be even more fun!

Toddlers love music. Invite them to wash their hands, brush their teeth, or change a diaper with a simple, repetitive tune and watch the magic happen. Singing produces positive feelings in the brain and we feel happy. When we are happy, our children are happy and we all get along better, especially during transition moments which can be challenging for young children to navigate.

Bergamo Montessori School in Sacramento, California offers Baby Sing A Long classes for parents and caregivers to learn fun and easy songs to sing with your infant and toddler.
