The 2nd and 3rd year students visited the Gibson House and spent the morning touring the house, washing clothes with a washboard and wringer, playing recess games from the mid-1800’s, husking corn, and making butter.

Geography paper maps, independent creative writing inspired by a variety of writing lessons, follow-up work on lessons about the Composition of the Earth and the second Timeline of Humans, Zoology work on Parts of a Bee, and Racks and Tubes are just some examples of the children’s work choices.
A Montessori work cycle is an uninterrupted block of time. During this time children are able to explore the prepared environment and engage with materials of their own choosing. The time is meant to give them opportunities to enjoy the work they love, while also cultivating basic life skills.
