From U.S. Chess Mates…
“It is no secret that chess has been used as an educational tool for hundreds of years by many great civilizations and cultures throughout the world. Chess is a board game, but its a game that teaches and strengthens many useful attributes of life. Strategy, patience, excitement and fear all in one game.
Amazing! Chess is also a game that has been proven to help children focus stronger, become more patient, out weigh their options and become more sociable. There have been many studies between the game of chess and children, the game of chess and the educational power of this great board game.”

Yoga
Rachel will be returning this summer!
From Rachel…
“For the last 17 years I have worked in Childcare, owning my own in-home Daycare for 11 of those years. I have over 40 units of Human Development from Sierra College. I began practicing yoga as a way to stay strong physically and mentally. I started sharing what I was learning with the kids and saw immediate benefits. Yoga offers body awareness, a way to manage stress through breath and movement, increased confidence, and non-competitive cooperation. After completing the 200-hour yoga teacher training I began to combine my awareness of child development and my love for yoga into a program tailor made for the little yogi. The classes include yoga poses, breathing exercises, meditation, games, and activities. While also including the principles of the yoga tradition. Yoga teachings focus on self-awareness, honesty, non-violence, generosity, working hard, cleanliness, and a peaceful way of life. All while strengthening the body and the mind and building the skills needed to succeed in life.”
In addition to full body yoga, I am so excited to announce that Nina Calanchini’s mom, Fumiko, will be instructing face yoga! Yes, it is a thing, and it is pretty incredible! Check out Fumiko’s website.
